Come join Harvest Workroom's January artist-in-residence Clara Vuletich and experiment with natural dye processes for textiles using native Australian plants.
In this workshop you will learn which native plants are unique to Melbourne and work with the results of Clara's residency that will attempt to develop a taxonomy of colours for the local area.
You will learn about the process of colouring textiles, from identifying the plants, to preparing the dye baths to dyeing and using some basic shibori dye techniques.
Students will be asked to bring in any plants or flora collected from their local area that inspire them and will take away a collection of textiles samples at the end of the workshop.
2 x sessions
January 21 & 22 10.30am - 4pm
Clara's workshop will be small and intimate with a maximum of 14 students.
No experience necessary, all materials provided.
